LITERARY & BOOK CLUB

Aim :- Literary & Book club aims to develop analytical and creative thinking skills. It offers opportunities to appreciate different types of literature and increase their own literary skills. The Literary club aims at not only refining the literary skills of the students but also developing in them logic and curiosity to know more and to instill in them a confidence to speak well. It is a club made for people who love literature, and want to share their experiences, readings and thoughts with others who have the same interest and talent.

Nature of activities of Literary & Book Club

• Taking interviews of renowned people who come to our college and others by meeting them.
• Conducting literary games like debates, essays, quizzes and other creative events.
• To give wings to their imaginations
• To revise and restore the art of reading with passion.
• To educate our literature aspirants about the various approaches and methodologies for evaluating literary texts.
• The new theories profusely used in the appreciation of literary works should be introduced to students to understand and address the new trends and ways of reading literature.
• Conducted a lecture series wherein eminent academicians proficient in literary theories and other related topics would deliver lectures about the same.

Activities of Literary & Book Club (2019-20)

• As part of the IQAC organized PANLORE Seminar series, the Department of English in collaboration with the Literary and Book Club inaugurated a talk series with a lecture by Dr. Prathap Kammath, Author, Poet and Associate Professor of English, S N College, Kollam on 31/01/2020
• The second lecture of talk series was by Dr. Prasantha kumar, Professor and Head (Rtd), Sree Shankaracharya Sanskrit University, Kalady on "Introduction to Cultural Studies"
• The third lecture of talk series was by Dr. Ajay kumar, Associate Professor of English, S N College, Kollam on "The patient explicator series: Theory and Practice of Deconstruction"
