A competition to find the Best composer of the campus was conducted on behalf of the performing arts club in asso. with the Department of Music. The students were given spot lyrics and was asked to compose.. Dr Subhash.S. K and Ms.Indu Suresh were the judges. There was a truly tight competition with the students of various departments that every single participant did justice to the lyrics given to them. The students of music department won the 1st 2nd and 3rd positions... |

Session on Folk Music by Jayachandran Kadambanad |
A programme of Jayachandran Kadambanad, a famous folk musician in Kerala was conducted . Dr Subhash of I MB gave the welcome speech. The programme was inaugurated by our Principal. The origin and evolution of folk music was told in detail by the chief guest and also few folk songs of different varieties were presented to our students. Dr. Neelima of Malayalam Department gave the vote of thanks. Our students immensely enjoyed the programme that they actively joined him in the singing. |

A One day Seminar on Music and Numbers was conducted. The chief Guest Dr.B.Arundhathi gave a lecture demonstration on the topic. The students felt it so interesting as well as informative. The topic portrayed the impact of music on other subjects like Astronomy, Astrology, Maths, Physics, Biology etc. The students gave a lively participation in the lecture. |

Veena concert of Smt. Nisha Ponni |
A divine Veena concert of Smt. Nisha Ponni (B High Grade artist in Veena classical and light music in All India Radio ) was conducted by our department. The programme was inaugurated by our Principal Dr K Anirudhan followed by a felicitation by Mr. Pradeep.S (Politics). The programme was a great treat to the students that they could grasp the technicalities and fingering in Veena. She also taught the students the basic lessons of Veena playing. Students enjoyed the lecture. |

World Music Day Celebrations 2018 |
World Music day was celebrated in our Department. Our students performed songs in different genres. A talk on the Topic was delivered by our HOD, Smt.B.Vanajamma . Dr S. K.Subhash from the Department of IMB also recited a few poems and made the event more entertaining. |

An entertainment programme was conducted for the special children at ASHRAYA as part of the charity activities of the Music club. the inmates interacted so well with our students and also a small song was taught to them by us. They responded very well with the song. |

Aesthetics of Music Education- Lecture Demonstration by Dr.K.Premalatha |
Dr.K.Premalatha, Former Head and Principal, Govt. Women’s College, Thiruvananthapuram inaugurated the music club on 31/10/2017. The function was followed by a lecture demonstration by her on the topic “Aesthetics of Music Education”. This was an interesting topic to our students to know the aesthetic aspects of music in detail. In the afternoon session our students had a karoke music programme. |
