World Environment Day 2018

The Department of Botany in Association with Biodiversity club and ENCON Club of Sree Narayana College for Women, Kollam celebrated the World Environment Day-2018 on 5th and 8th June 2018. The department organized a seminar with the focal theme “Waste management, Plastic Pollution & Green Protocol” in collaboration Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Thiruvananthapuram. It was inaugurated by Honorable Member of Legislative Assembly Sri, M. Noushad. Assistant Distric Co-ordinator Suchitwa Mission, Kollam, Sri. Pradeep was the resource person and he raised awareness about the threats and causes of plastic pollution and its impact to the living beings. Dr. S. Sekaran, Head of the Department of Botany Welcomed the gathering, Dr. K. Anirudhan, Principal, Sree Narayana college for Women presided over the function. Ms. Sulthana proposed Vote of Thanks. An Intercollegiate Quiz Competition on Environmental issues was conducted as part of the event. Ten teams from various colleges participated in the competition. The winners were given cash prizes and merit certificates.
