    Greetings from Sree Narayana College for Women, Kollam……..

    We are a premier women’s college situated at the heart of the town, endowed with a tranquil but vibrant and beautiful environment, befitting the educational conviction of our forerunners. Adhering to the ideologies of the great saint, scholar and social reformer, Sree Narayana Guru, ‘Enlightenment through Education’ is our motto. The establishment of Sree Narayana College for Women in 1951, resulted in opening the doors to an ethereal world of knowledge to the women of Kerala. With a legacy spanning more than six decades, our students and teachers have strived hard to excel in academic as well as non academic fields and has become one of the esteemed arts and science colleges in Kerala.
    Our college owns a long and proud tradition of excellence in teaching, learning and research in a number of disciplines such as English, Malayalam, Hindi, Economics, History, Music, Commerce, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics, Home Science and Industrial Microbiology and Biochemistry. Each year we get students who represent a cross section of the entire state of Kerala, and we take special care in identifying and nurturing the geniuses in them. They are the life blood of our institution. We aim at expelling the darkness of ignorance by igniting the flames of true wisdom and freedom through education. The college envisions Enlightenment through Education, Empowerment of Women, Social upliftment and Universal brotherhood. We take great pride in our alumni who include civil service officers, doctors, engineers, scientists, professors, writers, sports persons and distinguished politicians.
    Our team of zealous faculty makes sure that the students get the best teaching- learning experience. They engage the students through traditional teaching methods as well as innovative modern methods. We make sure that the students get to interact with leading academicians and experts by way of seminars, debates, quizzes, discussions etc. Our college offers rare courses like Music, Homescience and IMB. Eminent musician and State award winner, Dr. Bhavana Radhakrishnan was our faculty. Renowned playback singer Dr. Arundhathi B also belonged to the Music Department of our College. Most of our faculties are either PhD holders or pursuers.
    We have Post Graduate courses in English, Physics, Chemistry and Home Science and the Physics and Chemistry departments are research centres. We have 2545 students, 120 teaching staff and 16 non teaching staff.  The non teaching staff are always hands on and are always working towards the smooth upkeep of the office and college. We are very proud to have a well equipped library which is a favourite abode of majority of our students. The achievements of our girls in the field of sports have been growing with the years. Our boxers, weightlifters and sprinters have always brought laurels to the institution. Our college has very dedicated and spirited NCC and NSS units which are socially committed. ASAP, WWS and SSP units are actively involved in their endeavours. Our Science PG departments are DST- FIST sponsored and also get aid from RUSA. There is a Skill Enhanced IT Mission training centre of the Government of Kerala, functioning in the college. Every year our college is a forerunner in ranks among the colleges under the University of Kerala. The college continues its journey, crossing several milestones, carrying out its mission and realizing its vision.
