Human Rights Forum

Aim :- Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, sex, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other status. Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without discrimination. Human Rights Forum was formed in our college to create awareness among the students regarding their fundamental rights and also to ensure their fundamental freedom. It aims at promoting the development of friendly relations among students and to end all sorts of discrimination based on caste, colour, creed or sex. The forum seeks to highlight the potential of community involvement in democracy education and promotion. The forum seeks to encourage the students to stand up and speak up for their rights and those of others. The motto is "Peace, Dignity and Equality on a Healthy Planet".

Nature of activities of Human Rights Forum

• To strengthen respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms
• To promote human rights awareness among the students through literacy campaigns, talks, seminars, protest campaigns.
• To ensure there is no discrimination in the college based on caste, colour or creed.
• To protect human rights by building a stronger society based on values through education
• Highlight the role the students can play in making the world a more peaceful prosperous and free place based on universal brotherhood and solidarity.
• To tailor development and sensitization programmes to meet the distinct needs of students
• To promote respect, understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity, particularly towards different national, ethnic, religious, linguistics and other minorities and communities

Activities of Human Rights Forum (2019-20)

• Observance of human Rights Day on 10th December 2019
• Conducted an invited lecture on Human Rights Issues and challenges in India on 10/12/2019.
• Conducted an elocution competition on the Problems and Challenges of human rights in India.
• Organised a one day seminar on Women’s Rights in India
• Conducted a protest rally against increasing violence against women
• Created awareness among students regarding Universal Declaration of Human Rights by distributing pamphlets
