International Webinar

The PG Department of English, Sree Narayana College for Women, Kollam, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, conducted an international webinar as part of Eclectics 2022 on 07 December 2022. The webinar was titled To Get a Feel for What This Means: Annie Dillard’s Thought Experiments and the Teaching of Compassion. Dr Scott Slovic, University Distinguished Professor of Environmental Humanities, University of Idaho, USA, was the Resource Person. Remya C.R. and Dr Priyanka M.C. coordinated the webinar. The webinar introduced recent psychological research on the topic of compassion, showing how difficult it is for people to extend their compassion for an individual human being (or an organism from another species) to multiple individuals. The audience (155 participants in total) comprised mostly of students, faculty, and research scholars.

Literary Fest LiFe@19

The Postgraduate Dept of English in asso with the Literary & Book Club organized a Literary Fest LiFe@19 on 7 March 2019 to unearth the literary and creative skills of our students. As part of the Literary Fest organized by the Literary Club and the PG dept of English, Staging a Painting contest was organized wherein students recreated on stage the classical paintings of the bygone and contemporary artists. We also organized a Skit Competition- ACT IT. The students staged theatrical versions of literary works like Matsyagandhi, Under Fire and Night at the Museum. The students performances were highly appreciated. The team comprising of III BA English students who presented Matsyagandhi won the First Place. Ardra S who performed the lead role was selected as the Best Actress by the judges.

Short Film Competition

The II year English main students received the III Prize for their debut short film "Dhwani" in the Intercollegiate Short Film Competition organized by the AKPCTA Women's unit.

Festa Literaria

The Post Graduate Department of English, Sree Nararyana College for Women Kollam is celebrating the 70th birthday of the most influential author Paulo Coelho on August 24, 2017. On behalf of this, we have organized a literary fest- "Festa Literararia" on Aug 23, including events like Impromptu Poetry and Cosplay. This is our celebration of literature and a rich opportunity for our students. We believe passionately in inspiring our young talents with opportunities for development.
