Seminar- “Breast feeding Awareness”

Community health club and Zoology Department of Sree Narayana college for Women in collaboration with KOGS organised a seminar on “Breast feeding awareness” on 06/08/2018. Dr. N.R Reena (Gynecologist, Taluk Hospital, Kottarakkara, Govt. Hospital) delivered a talk on the topic. Principal Dr. K. Anirudhan inaugurated the ceremony. Dr.Sreeja.J (HOD, Zoology Dept.) welcomed the gathering and Jisha S. (Asst. Prof.) expressed vote of thanks.

Seminar on RABIES ERADICATION

The Department of Zoology and the Community Health club of our college conducted a “Rabies Eradication” Seminar in collaboration with the Department of Health Services and the Department of Veterinary Association. The President of Indian Veterinary Association, Kollam Chapter, Dr. Ramesh Babu presided over the function and Dr. Sreeja J. (HOD, Zoology) delivered the welcome speech. The Principal of our college, Dr. K. Anirudhan inaugurated the seminar. Deputy District Medical Officer Dr. R. Sandhya and Veterinary surgeon Dr. Raju.S handled the sessions in the seminar. Dr. Nisha J Tharayil, IQAC Coordinator of our college and Dr. Dollymol P. George, DAHO felicitated the function. Seminar came to a conclusion with the vote of thanks by Dr. S Usha, Coordinator, Community Health Club.

Survey on Mosquito Source Reduction

The Department of Zoology and Community health club of our college in collaboration with District Medical Office, Kollam conducted a survey on Mosquito Source Reduction in Mundakkal, Kollam district on 15/07/2019. The Second year semester students from the Department of Zoology accompanied by 6 health workers from DMO visited 186 houses to conduct the survey and the final report was submitted to the DMO by Dr. S Usha on 19/07/2019.

Seminar on ‘Mosquito Source Reduction’

The Department of Zoology and Community Health Club in S. N. College for Women conducted a seminar on ‘Mosquito Source Reduction’ in collaboration with District medical Office, Kollam on 12/07/2019. District Malaria Officer Dr. Suresh T. was the resource person. The function was presided by Dr. K. Anirudhan. Dr. Sreeja J, Head, Dept. of Zoology welcomed the audience. Community Health Club Co-ordinator Dr. S. Usha delivered the vote of thanks. Dr. Nisha V, Dr. Deepak Nand, Ms. Jisha S, Ms. Sona G. Krishnan, Dr. Seethal Lal, Mr. Silpa Sasankan and Dr. Sheeba M. R talked. A survey on the same topic was also conducted on 15/07/2019. The report of the survey was handed over to District Malaria Officer by Dr. S. Usha.

The Department of Zoology is association with the District Medical Office Kollam is organizing a Webinar on Nutrition and Health care for College Students on 12 February 2021 via Zoom. Dr. J.Manikantan - Dep. DMO Kollam will inaugurate the webinar. The first session on Nutrition and Life Style Disease will be handled by Dr. R. Sandhya - DSO Kollam and the second session on Nutrition and Diet will be by Arya Ravi - NCD Dietician District Hospital Kollam.
